The anti-COVID vaccine, Vero Cell, was sent to Chumnubri Rural Municipality, the northern belt of Gorkha, via helicopter. Immunization section chief at Health Office in district, Rishiram Khatri, informed that the transportation of vaccine was delayed due to adverse weather.
Khatri further said after the roadway and trails were damaged with landslides triggered by incessant rainfall for some weeks, the road transportation was disrupted to reach north Gorkha. Although the administration was about to ferry the vaccines via helicopter on Friday, it was taken today for adverse weather, he added.
Three thousand dozes of Vero Cell vaccines were sent to Chumnubri by chartering the helicopter with the assistance of an international non-governmental organization, Mountain Child. The people above 18 years will be vaccinated against COVID-19.
There are 3,708 people living in Chumnubri. However, some have already taken the vaccine. So, 3,000 doses would suffice, according to Khatri.
