The Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) has urged the government to immediately reconstruct the access roads that are damaged by the recent monsoon flooding creating obstacles to reach the hydropower project sites.
IPPAN’s Chairman Krishna Prasad Acharya has also urged the government to ensure resumption of the transmission lines affected from the recent flooding.
The government has been further requested to form a high-level mechanism to resolve the issues of the energy sector and to ensure security of sub-stations built by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
Similarly, the IPPAN has asked for promptness on the part of Insurance Board and Ministry of Finance to facilitate and ease the insurance claim processes.
As some hydropower projects that were about to complete the power development works are unlikely to do so and could take at least a year due to damage in their physical infrastructure and transmission line, Acharya has sought the promotion of refinancing from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
For the security of power house, dams and other sites, the government is urged to bring programmes for rivers control.
