A total of 2,622 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population. With the latest update, the COVID-19 caseload reached 646,367.
The new cases were detected from 7,499 PCR tests and 4,028 antigen tests conducted during the same period.
According to the Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Krishna Poudel, 1,745 new cases were confirmed from the RT-PCR tests and 877 from antigen tests. The Ministry stated that the Kathmandu Valley witnessed 562 new cases including 378 in Kathmandu district, 124 in Lalitpur and 60 in Bhaktapur.
Similarly, altogether 2,211 COVID-19 patients got recovered in the past 24 hours, taking the total recovery number at 611,429 till date, the Ministry said.
With the latest report, the country now has 25,690 reported active cases of the coronavirus.
Likewise, 23 people succumbed to the infection in the same period. The number of COVID-19 fatality totaled 9,248 as of July 5.
