Today’s meeting of Gandaki Province Assembly has been postponed till July 13 after the protest from main opposition party CPN (UML).
The meeting was scheduled to hold discussions on the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.
Speaker Netra Nath Adhikari allocated time to province assembly member of the CPN (UML), Ram Sharan Basnet, to put forth the views after the main opposition CPN (UML) protested after the meeting began.
Basnet said that the new government shifted the budget but halted the reimbursement of the completed projects. Stating that millions of rupees have been allocated in a single ward in Pokhara, he argued that allocation of budget was unlawful.
Speaking in the meeting, another province assembly member of CPN (UML), Padam Rokaya, objected, saying Gandaki province government has tried to keep the CPN (UML) in role, ruling and opposition, against the constitution and parliamentary norms and values.
Speaker Adhikari postponed the meeting till 1:00 pm after other members of the opposition party protested standing at their seats. The meeting called for 1:00 pm was put off till July 13.
