Government side begin pleading in hearings over HoR dissolution case

The government side has started pleading over the writ petition regarding dissolution of House of Representatives in the Supreme Court today. Deputy Attorney General Padma Prasad Pandey has started arguments over the case.

Pandey would make his case in the hearing for two hours, with an analysis the provision of the Constitution regarding whether or not President could reject the claim of both, Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (UML) chair KP Oli, to the post of Prime Minister.

Similarly, Pandey would also define about the provisions of other countries regarding whether ‘whip cross’ and floor cross in formation of a government as per Article 76 of the Constitution of Nepal.

Attorney General Ramesh Badal leading a government side held arguments for more than three hours on Monday.

A total of 11 people comprising Attorney General Badal have been pleading the case from government side. The hearing is underway at a constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana, senior most Justice- Deepak Kumar Karki, Mira Khadka, Ishwori Prasad Khatiwada and Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai.
