Kathmandu: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen, Nawalkishor Sah Sudi, has said the people who survived the landslides and floods wreaked by the rains in different districts including Kathmandu were waiting for assistance.
Minister Sudi reminded the disasters and its impacts on people and requested the international non-government organizations (INGOs) for the assistance at this need.
Also the Chairman of the Social Welfare Council, Minister Sudi called an emergency meeting at the Council on Sunday and urged the INGOs that they could extend assistance, considering the tragic incidents triggered by the downpour. Nepal witnessed unimaginable disaster, claiming many lives and damaging enormous property.
“Nepal is bearing the brunt of landslides, floods and inundations. Details on total loss of lives and damage of property are awaited,” said, adding the government was making all-out efforts for search, rescue and rehabilitation activities with the mobilization of security persons. He also urged the
meeting attendants to devote to rescue and relief distribution works.
The Council issued a notice and expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and damages of propriety, and requested all sides concerned to extend support in rescue and rehabilitation campaigns from their respective places.
Chairman of the INGOs’ Association Shankar Prasad Kalauni informed that the stakeholders made plans on how they could extend support at this hour of pressing need.
