SC’s decision of reinstating HoR widely welcomed

The Supreme Court’s decision of restoring the House of Representatives has been widely welcomed. Different political parties, civil society, intellectuals, legal prosecutors and different orgnisations have welcomed SC’s verdict of reinstating the HoR.

Welcoming the SC’s verdict, leaders of different political parties mentioned that the SC has protected the democracy by giving a verdict as per sentiments and aspiration of the Constitution.

In this regard, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that SC’s verdict is one of the important events in the history. He referred to it as the victory of the country and Nepalis. “Protection of the Constitution, norms and values of democracy and national welfare are the need of the hour. So I welcome this verdict of the SC,” he said.

Dahal also congratulated all from on his own behalf, the party and the opposition alliance.

Similarly, senior leader of the CPN (UML), Madhav Kumar Nepal, said that the SC’s verdict has protected the Constitution and democracy. Former Prime Minister Nepal opined that today’s verdict has enhanced the pride of the court.

Likewise, Chairperson of Federal Council of Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Dr Baburam Bhattarai, said that ‘There is a break in regression journey’ with the court’s verdict.

In its verdict over a writ petition against the HoR dissolution, the SC reinstated the dissolved HoR and issued an order to summon the HoR meeting on July 18. Similarly, the SC also issued a mandamus to appoint Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the prime Minister within two days.
