Shivam Cement yet to pay dues worth Rs 2.34 billion in power tariff

The Shivam Cement run in Hetauda of Makawanpur district has not paid dues worth Rs 2.34 billion in power tariff for the use of dedicated feeder line from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

It is said that the company has kept its dues for the past six years. NEA Branch Chief of Hetauda Yogendra Thakur said that the company used power supplied from a dedicated feeder during 2015 to 2018.

As the Shivam Cement turned a deaf ear to repeated request to clear the dues, the NEA had published a public notice to disrupt power supply to the company. However, the company had lodged a petition at Patan High Court against the NEA.

Then, the Hetauda bench of the Patan High Court gave a verdict in favour of the NEA. Thakur said that the power tariff to be paid by the Shiva Cement is Rs 1.21 billion and rest of the money is penalty which totaled Rs 2.34 billion.
