Inclusion Commission moots formulating effective action plans

The National Inclusion Commission is mulling to make its policy, law, planning and programme more effective through monitoring and evaluation.

The Commission, at a progamme organized to mark 100 days of its full shape on Friday, NIC chairperson Dr Ramkrishna Timalsina shared that the Commission will identify the policies aimed at protecting, empowering, developing and ensuring participants of the target groups.

Stating that the Commission would enhance its institutional capacity, he said it would be enabled to conduct research and studies.

The Commission is to identify policy, programme and laws protecting the rights of the Khas Arya, people with disabilities, senior citizens, labourers, farmers, minorities and marginalized communities.

Furthermore, the Chairperson said that the Commission would review the international treaties and agreements and would enhance the effectiveness of the social cultural rights.

The Commission got full shape on June 24 this year, three years since the Commission was established in line with the Part 27 Article 258 of the Constitution of Nepal.

The Commission consists of a chairperson and four other members.

On the occasion, former Minister Prem Bahadur Singh urged the Commission office-bearers to make the Commission more active as per its goals, objectives and mission.

He drew the attention of the Commission towards the situation where many senior citizens were not receiving social security allowance in lack of citizenship identity card and appealed with the Commission to help address this issue. —
