The 13th Meeting of Judicial Academy Council (JAC) was held on Dec. 1, 2016 at NJA's office, Manamaiju, Kathmandu. The meeting was presided over by Chairperson of the JAC Rt. Hon'ble Chief Justice Sushila Karki. Other distinguished members of JAC including Vice Chairperson of the National Planning Commission Hon'ble Dr. Meen Bahadur Shrestha, Minister for Law and Justice Hon'ble Ajay Shankar Nayak, senior Justice of Supreme Court Hon'ble Gopal Parajuli and Attorney General Hon'ble Raman Kumar Shrestha were present in the meeting.
Hon'ble Keshari Raj Pandit, Executive Director, NJA-Nepal and Member-Secretary to JAC, delivered welcome remarks and highlighted the major activities of NJA-Nepal including constraints and challenges encountered by the organization. On that occasion, Rt. Hon'ble Chief Justice Karki unveiled a Statue of Goddess of Learning Sarashwati at premises of NJA-Nepal.
In the meeting, Rt. Hon'ble Chief Justice Karki stressed the need of strengthening the capacity of Judges and judicial stakeholders so as it could be instrumental for enhancing the judicial efficiency. She further observed that in this process NJA-Nepal has a significant role to play by imparting judicial education through various types of educational programmes. Rt. Hon'ble Chief Justice Karki also extended thanks and appreciation to NJA-Nepal for its unstinted support to Nepali judiciary.
The meeting approved programs conducted by NJA-Nepal during the fiscal year 2015/16 as well as the programs planned for fiscal year 2016/17. Apart from that, the meeting also approved Procedural Guidelines Relating to Welfare Fund for NJA-Nepal's Employees. The meeting also discussed NJA Nepal's institutional reform process and formed a committee for the review of NJA-Nepal's Act and Regulations under convenorship of Executive Director of NJA-Nepal.
