The employees of Tribhuvan International Airport have been found involved in smuggling gold brought from abroad. According to police, Laxman Guragain, an employee of the Immigration Office at the airport, was arrested along with the person who brought the gold.

Kamal Ghimire, 34, of Lavipur in Itahari Sub-metropolis-16 of Sunsari had received the support of Guragain to smuggle 10 gold chains weighing 1.165 kg. According to the airport security office, Guragain went to the toilet in the immigration area, took the gold chains brought by Ghimire, passed the customs checkpoint and returned to another toilet in the same area.

Ghimire arrived in Nepal on a Fly Dubai flight on Friday. He was arrested after he was found carrying the smuggled gold during a checking. Guragain was also taken under control after investigation showed his involvement in the illegal act.

Both of them have been sent to the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office for further investigation and action.
