Bar election: vote count to begin at 9:00am

The vote counting under the 26th central working committee election of Nepal Bar Association is beginning from 9:00am.

Ballot boxes from all 34 voting centres outside the Kathmandu Valley were bought to Kathmandu, so the vote count is to begin at 9:00am, according to Chief Election Officer for NBA election, Usha Malla Pathak.

The voting was held in a peaceful manner in all 35 voting centres on April 2. For the 25 member working committee including a chair and 11 office bearers, 9,708 advocates had cast votes.

Among them, 5700 were within the Kathmandu Valley and remaining from outside.

Different panels were in the field for election. Progressive and professional legal practitioners, and broader democratic progressive inclusive and professional legal practitioners had made separate panels for the election. The progressive panel has been led by senior advocate Bishnu Hari Adhikari and the broader democratic one by senior advocate Gopal Krishna Ghimire.

For the post of chairperson of the NBA, eight persons- from group and individual level- have filed candidacies.
