Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, commemorated Anzac Day on Thursday, 25 April 2019.
Consul General Yonzon along with Nepalese Gurkhas veterans, their children and grandchildren joined families of Anzacs, veterans, and servicemen and women in the annual commemorative march.
In Australia on Anzac Day, Australians remember the past, reflect on the present, and, most solemnly, honour those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms they enjoy today.
25 April marks the date when the Allied landings took place on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915. The Nepalese Gurkhas, too, share a special affinity with 25 April, as four Gurkha battalions also fought bravely in the Gallipoli Campaign.
The office of the Consulate General of Nepal to Victoria remembers and commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders, as well as the contributions of the Gurkhas who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations and the contribution and suffering of all those who have served.
