Chief of Karnali Province Govinda Prasad Kalauni has appreciated the Province Government for its proactive role in public health security in the time of pandemic and for providing job opportunities through the Chief Minister Employment Programme.

Kalauni said so in his message of best wishes on the third establishment day of the Karnali Province Government on Monday.

"Chief Minister Employment Programme, integrated settlements development, bank accounts for girls, disaster insurance scheme of citizens, laws drafting, development of health care infrastructure and service expansion, agriculture and tourism are prioritised," the Province Chief said.

He stated that lifestyle of people in the province could be uplifted through agriculture if commercial and modern farming as well as organic agricultural production was increased.

Kalauni stressed the need for infrastructure development, tourism promotion, and collection, production and processing of medical herbs in the province.

Also speaking at the programme, Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi said that expected results were not seen due to the province's poor economic and social indicators as well as difficult geographic terrain compared to other provinces in the country.

He, however, said that foundation for development has been prepared by starting from the scratch.

"Efforts are ongoing to bring in private investors and we are preparing to hold an investment conference in Karnali," Shahi shared.

Similarly, Speaker of Karnali Province Assembly Raj Bahadur Shahi expressed the confidence that the province government will be able to discharge its responsibilities since it has grown matured.

Terming accountability and transparency as the beauty of democracy, Speaker Shahi argued that people's concerns towards federalism should be received positively.
