China's Civil Aviation Administration has completely banned Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Note 7 phones from being taken on board flights.
According to Chinese Internet portal Sina.com on Thursday, the administration announced a day earlier that all passengers will be prohibited from carrying Note 7s onto planes as well as transporting the gadget as air cargo.
The Chinese aviation administration ordered all airlines to notify passengers of the ban. It also said that passengers will be penalized if they are found trying to bring Galaxy Note 7 phones on board flights.
The ban follows similar measures taken by other countries including the U.S. and Canada, where there have been reported instances of the products catching fire or exploding.
