Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Prithivi Subba Gurung has said that Loktantra Day has an important meaning in fulfilling country's goals of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis' while additionally strengthening the federal democratic republic governance system in line with the spirit and aspiration of the constitution.
In a message of best wishes on the occasion of Loktantra Day, he recalled the historic people's movement 2062/63 BS, which restored the dissolved House of Representatives by former King Gyanendra Shah and ended the 240-year-long monarchy in the country.
On the occasion, he extended his heartfelt condolences to all martyrs who sacrificed their lives in various movements for national sovereignty, democracy, justice, equality and freedom, and honoured those who have been disappeared and injured in the process.
In the message, he appealed to all Nepali people to take precautionary measures and follow the health protocol against increasing COVID-19.
Similarly, Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Dormani Poudel extended his greetings on the Day.
In a message of best wishes on the Day, he said that the first phase of a movement for political rights reached its conclusion with the establishment of the federal democratic republic in the country. "Now what is left to do is addressing the country's goals of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis'".
