‘Co-Husband (Sahayak Shreeman)’ – a documentary film produced around the theme of polyandry has been nominated for the Russian International Film Festival.
The film directed by journalist Ganesh Pandey was nominated from Nepal in the International Cannes Video Festival to be held on August 27-29. Earlier, the film had won the best documentary award along with 1,000 US Dollars in the Nepal International Film Festival.
The 35-minute documentary film was shot in Humla of Karnali State. The unique social practice of polyandry (the custom of brothers in a single family marrying the same woman) is still prevailing in some mountainous districts of Nepal. The issue was first time reflected in the screen.
It may be noted that Pandey had gathered national and international accolade from his documentary film ‘Bhagyale Banchekaharu (Survivors by destiny)’.
