nepalnewsgazette.com October 12, 2020     Comment Closed     General

Community security committees are being formed in Tikapur of Kailali district. The Tikapur Municipality and the Area Police Office Tikapur have collaborated in forming the committees one after the other with the goal of giving the responsibility of security of the community to the locals themselves.

The police have initiated this campaign so as to work together with local citizens in maintaining law and order, and support in the investigations in case of any criminal incident. Community security committees would be focused more on maintaining peace and security in the community.

It is said there would be more than 10 community security committees in each of the municipality's ward. Such committees have been formed so far at ward no 1, 4, 8 and 6. The process of forming the committees is on in the rest of the wards.

The Municipality is likely to have altogether more than 100 security committees including the Ward Security Committee and the Community Security Committee, Mayor Tapendra Bahadur Rawal said. He said this campaign has been started in all the nine wards of the municipality with consultation with the Ward Chair of each ward.

The Ward Security Committee shall extend cooperation in preventing violence against women and evil practices in society like child marriage, polygamy, drug abuse and the like, besides working for strengthening the law and order in the ward and community.
