Country’s landless families over 2.91 lakh, rehabilitated 2.76 lakh: says land minister in JS

SANGSAD BHABAN, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chaudhury today

said over 2.76 lakh landless families so far have been rehabilitated in the

country while the number of total landless families are over 2.91 lakh.

“The number of total landless families are 2,91,954 in eight divisions across

the country while the number of rehabilitated families stands at 2,76,691″,

said the minister.

The minister revealed this while responding to a query which was raised by

treasury bench lawmaker Hazi Mohammad Selim of Dhaka-7 at the Jatiya Sangsad

with Deputy Speaker Shamsul Huq Tuku in the Chair.

In Dhaka division, upazila-wise total landless families are 38,816 while some

38,180 have been rehabilitated here. Some 53,867 families are landless in

different upazilas in Chattogram divisions where some 46,571 families have

been rehabilitated.

The number of landless families in Rajshahi division is 32,298 while 32,004

have been rehabilitated.

In Khulna division, the number of upazila-wise landless families are 24,541

while 22,348 landless families have been rehabilitated in the last fifteen

years.

Some 31,413 families were landless in Barishal division where some 28,816

have been rehabilitated.

A total of 21,929 families are landless at different upazilas in Sylhet

division while 21,929 families were rehabilitated.

In Rangpur division, some 76,022 are landless families while 74,090 families

already have been rehabilitated. Some 12,753 landless families were

rehabilitated in Mymensingh division where landless families are 13,068.
