COVID-19: New 273 cases reported, death toll reaches 18

The country reported 273 more cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

 

Ministry of Health and Population confirmed that 247 males and 36 females were added making the total cases to 5,335.

 

Likewise, the number of death caused due to COVID-19 reached 18, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said.

 

He said that 25-year-old male from Parsa and five-year-old boy of Nijgadh from Bara district died of the virus. The boy from Nijgadh, who tested positive for the virus, breathed his last during his treatment of pneumonia at Health Care Hospital in Birgunj.

 

Body of the 25 years old man was recovered in Parsa two days ago and the swab of the youth was tested positive for the coronavirus during the test in Narayani Hospital, Birgunj, Dr Gautam added.

 

Furthermore, Dr Gautam said that 913 individuals including 91 women have been discharged from the hospital so far after complete recovery from the coronavirus.

 

In a daily press briefing today, Gautam said that 5,661 individuals were tested through the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method in the last 24 hours. So far, 127,288 individuals were tested through the rapid diagnostic test (RDT) method.
