Deliberations of groupwise conclusion over in Maoist Centre’s general convention

The group leaders of the Maoist Centre’s General Convention have put forth their groups’ views on the party’s ongoing national jamboree today.

Earlier, the party had formed 25 separate groups to hold discussions on political document of party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and statute draft tabled by leader Dev Prasad Gurung.

According to party’s central publicity and publications committee, Chairman Prachanda is scheduled to respond to the concerns raised over the document on Friday.

After the party chairman’s response, the documents would be passed and the process for the leadership selection would begin.

In the closed-door session, the leaders have suggested that the party leadership should take ownership of the decision taken for the cause of national sovereignty adding that the country released new political map by incorporating Limpiyadhura, Kalapani and Lipu Lake pass based on the consensus of major party parties.

They argued that the new map was released at the initiative of the then Nepal Communist Party (NCP) that comprised the CPN (Maoist Centre) too.

On behalf of the Liaison Coordination Special Province Committee, leader Shreekrishna Adhikari said that the party’s agendas were owned by others in some contexts for failing to own them despite the party’s clear agenda in regard to national sovereignty.

“The context has changed now. The political document of Prachanda is not only progressive but also would lead the future communist movement,” Adhikari added.

Sharing the group’s conclusion, party leader and Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel said that it should be clear whether politics was a service or business while calling for an end to factionalism in the party.

He questioned the non-performance of the production brigade proposed in the party’s Hetauda General Convention.

Likewise, leader Gayatri Gurung from the party’s Gandaki Province Committee said that the publicity campaign of the Maoist Centre should be strengthened adding that such committees should be formed from the party’s bottom level.

In the closed-door session, the leader Bhawani Thapa from Province 2 asked to include the issue of Chure conservation in the party chairman’s document. “The entire Madhes region is at risk. This issue be included in the political document,” Thapa added.
