Delta variant confirmed in Syangja

New variant of Delta was confirmed in nasal and throat swabs of two persons in Syangja district, creating fear among locals since this new variant is said to be more contagious and dangerous.

The new variant of Delta (B.1.617.2) were confirmed in a 60-year-old person and 14-year-old teenager from Kaligandaki Rural Municipality after their swabs were tested in the Nepal Public Health Laboratory in Kathmandu, according to a press statement issued by the Gandaki Province Health Directorate.

The Directorate, in the press statement, said that those infected with the COVID-19 through new Delta variant have recovered and have already returned to their respective homes.

Kaligandaki Rural Municipality Chairperson Khim Bahadur Thapa shared that there was no health complications reported from those who were infected by the new Delta variant.

The Gandaki Health Directorate has urged one and all in the Gandaki Province to take all necessary precautions against the coronavirus infection.
