Drill to control forest fire

npadmin April 10, 2022     Comment Closed     General

A drill was held with the involvement of the locals to control the forest fire in the Ajammari Community Forest in Shivaraj Municipality-9 of Kapilvastu.

Along with the drill, fire control tools and other necessary materials to control the fire have been handed over to the locals. The support was received with the help of Third Pole Conservation, Rare Species Fund and Dhwanse Leopard Conservation Group.

Handing over the materials, Chief of Division Forest Office, Dadhilal Kandel, said that the locals should be vigilant to prevent the forest fire. Locals are urged to remain vigilant as there is a high risk of forest fire during the summer season. "We have provided information on how the fire can start and how it can be controlled," he said.

Director of the Third Pole Conservation, Gangaram Regmi, said that fire-resistant jumpsuit, water spray, helmet, swatter and other materials worth Rs 150,000 were distributed to the community forest users group.

Chairperson of Ajmamari Community Forest Group, Sukmaya BK, said that it would be easier to control the fire if they were trained to control it.

The fire drill was facilitated by Assistant Forest Officers Sanjay Mishra, Ganesh Chaudhary and Ganesh Puri.
