EC categorises over 50 per cent voting centres in Madhes province as most sensitive

More than 50 per cent voting centres of Madhes Province has been included in the most sensitive list.

The Election Commission has kept the 1,063 voting centres of Madhes Province at the most sensitive list by reviewing the security challenges as eight districts of the Province share border with India.

Deputy Inspector General of Police of Madhes Province Police Office, Janakpurdham, Umesh Ranjitkar, said that security arrangement has been made at these voting centres, which have been kept at most sensitive list of Madhes during local-level election scheduled for May 13.

The EC had categorized the voting centres as most sensitive, sensitive and normal as per the recommendation of the District-based security committee by reviewing the activities occurred in previous elections, he shared.

Similarly, 828 voting centres of the Province have been categorized as sensitive and 212 voting centres as normal.

Meanwhile, 136 licensed weapons were handed over to the local administration in the Province as per the notice issued by the District administration office in view of upcoming local-level election.

The District Administration Office of the eight districts of the Province had issued the notice to hand over the licensed weapon within April 13.
