At least eight people have been killed, after their car collided with a truck, and caught fire, in the western Indian state of Gujarat, police said today (Wednesday).
The accident occurred on Rajkot-Morbi Highway, near Tankara town, in the state's Morbi district.
"The car, carrying nine members of a family, caught fire after the head-on collision with the truck, on Tuesday night. One injured has been admitted to a hospital," a police official said.
A probe has been ordered into the incident, he added.
India has the highest number of road fatalities in the world.
Road accidents occur mostly due to poor driving, or badly maintained roads and vehicles.
