An elderly man died of injuries he sustained when the chariot being pulled during the Bhairavnath festival crushed him accidently.

Durgaman Kasapal, 71, of Katunje of Suryabinayak rural municipality-5 in Bhaktapur district breathed his last during treatment at Bhaktapur Hospital, police said.

According to DSP Raju Pandey at the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, the doctors declared him dead as he was admitted to the Hospital following the accident.

The chariot procession was conducted to mark the last day of the Biska Jatra (Popularly known as Bisket Jatra). The incident took place at Nasamanaa chowk.

Despite the unpleasant incidents as such continue to recur almost every year during the injury, the chariot process continues unabated in its glory. Tradition has it that the Bikset Jatra concludes after Bhairavnath's chariot is pulled towards Upper and Lower town in the locality and is taken to Taudahi at the end.
