The former chairman of President Park's ruling Saenuri party is throwing his weight behind an opposition party proposal aimed at restoring public trust in the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae.
Kim Moo-sung, who led Saenuri for nearly two years prior to April, said Thursday he supports forming a neutral cabinet, because the current leadership has lost the public's trust.
Kim says Choi Soon-sil, the longtime friend of President Park accused of exerting undue influence over government affairs, should return to South Korea as soon as possible.
He says if Choi is in any way patriotic, she'll come back and disclose all details related to her dealings with the president, so her administration can carry on with state affairs.
