Federal, State govts hold discussion on support price of paddy

The federal and State governments discussed the support price of paddy on Friday.

 

According to the secretariat of the Chief Minister of State-2, the State government representatives and Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Ghanashyam Bhusal held talks on the modality of purchasing the paddy from farmers through government channel.

 

As per the discussion, the Land Management and Agriculture Cooperative Ministry at State will prepare modality and submit its proposal in 10 days to the federal government. The meeting agreed to purchase rice from farmers ensuring minimum support price via government channel.

 

Chief Minister of State-2 Lal Babu Raut and State Minister Shailendra Shah, among others were present from State government in the discussion.  Earlier, the government had fixed the minimum support price for paddy up to Rs 2,885 per quintal, depending on the variety.
