Fight against disaster should not be weaker: Chair Dahal

Web Desk July 12, 2020     No Comment     General

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has insisted on unity in a struggle against disaster. In his address to a meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee, Chitwan, today, the leader was of the view that response to corona crisis and natural disasters should not be weaker.

‘’ The nation is at risk of landslide and flood,’’ he said, wishing no influence of political activities and other dispute in the unity on disaster preparedness. Any attempt from anywhere else to weaken the party unity would not be in favour of the people.’’

He urged the entire political parties, civil society, media and one and all to engage in a combined battle against the COVID-19 crisis.

As he said, a detailed project report (DPR) for the construction of a ring road and the embankments along the Rapti, Narayani and Riu Rivers in the district had already been prepared and presented before  the Finance Ministry, demanding the budget allocation for the project which as he said is his dream project.

The project will serve as the foundation for prosperity in the district, according to him.

He drew the attention of authorities concerned towards the management of temporary rivers in the district. In the meeting, Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhattarai apprised the gathering of preparedness for overall disaster management in the district and progress so far.

State Assembly member, chiefs of offices concerned and representatives from organisations concerned put their views in the meeting.  The meeting was scheduled bearing in mind the presence of Dahal, also the House of Representatives (HoR) member from the Chitwan constituency-3.  Dahal arrived here to inspect the loss caused by Narayani river erosion at Megahauli and human casualty at Madhi.
