Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has urged the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to propose the programmes for the coming budget which the ministry is capable to implement.

Minister Poudel requested for the practicable programmes and budget, reminding that the spending trend was not encouraging. A meeting was held in this regard on Thursday.

Budget should be made under ceiling and the areas and mechanisms that are capable to implement it should be prioritized, he stressed. Even in the multi-year projects, the budget should be allocated only as per need.

The Minister also stressed the need of inter-ministry coordination to set priorities while preparing programmes and proposing budget for the coming year. He vowed that the budget would however address the tourism sector which suffered worst with Covid-19 crisis.

On the occasion, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, requested Finance Minister to prioritize tourism sector in view of the loss it incurred due to pandemic.

Similarly, Economic Advisor to Finance Minister, Dr Prakash Kumar Shrestha, said the budget should focus the big projects in line with the spirit of federalism.

The Finance Ministry has intensified discussions and consultations on budget issues for the coming policy and programmes and budget.
