Finance Minister Janardan Sharma on Sunday held discussions with former finance ministers regarding the challenges seen in country's economy and possible measures to be taken for economic revival.
Finance Minister Sharma discussed with former finance ministers Surendra Pandey, Barshaman Pun and Shanker Prasad Koirala, according to Minister Sharma's Secretariat.
During the meeting, Minister Sharma said that he would take efforts to lessen the adverse impacts in economy due to the coronavirus pandemic through the best possible mobilisation of available resources and existing human resources based on national consensus.
The former finance ministers suggested that the government should formulate economic policies by considering the country's economy adding that the country's economic outlook was not promising due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Similarly, the former ministers urged minister Sharma to consider the poor status of capital expenditure as one of the weaknesses of the Ministry of Finance, which is a challenge of our economy.
The former finance ministers also laid emphasis to apply austerity measures in the unproductive sectors but to prioritise the industrial sector.
