MALE, Maldives, The Criminal Court of the Maldives, on Wednesday, sentenced former President, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, to 19 months in prison, after he was found guilty of obstructing justice, local media reported.
Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Justice Ali Hameed, were also sentenced to jail.
The three were charged for allegedly refusing to hand over their mobile phones, for a police investigation.
Gayoom was taken into custody from his home in the capital, Male, in Feb, on charges of plotting to overthrow the government.
His son-in-law was also arrested with him.
