The Legislation Management Committee has consulted with former vice-chancellors of various universities on the ‘Yogmaya Ayurveda University Management Bill-2076 BS’.
During the consultation, former Vice-Chancellor of the Tribhuvan University Prof DrHiramanMaharjan stressed the need to introduce the bill in a way to open up avenues for collaboration with foreign universities so as to familiarize it at the international level.
The office-bearers of the Yogmaya University however should be managed like that of other universities of Nepal.
Former Vice-Chancellor of the Pokhara University KhagendraBhattarai underlined the need to develop the university as an academic hub rather than the administrative center and make arrangement of the rector to that end.
Former Vice-Chancellor of the Kathmandu University Prof Dr Suresh Raj Sharma said the committee should not be formed in a way to include many office-bearers and adequate chunk of budget should be allocated to operate the university as the students’ fee would not be adequate to meet operational expenses.
Committee Chair ParshuramMeghiGurung said the bill would be taken to the logical conclusion after having consultations with different stakeholders.
The government is working to establish the University to advance tech-savvy study, education, research and investigation into the Ayurveda, yoga, meditation and alternative medicine and also to establish it as the centre of academic excellence to produce competent and competitive human resource and contribute to the country’s prosperity.
