Foundation stone laid for Lord Shiva’s statue

Chief of Beni municipality Hari Kumar Shrestha on Monday laid the foundation stone for erecting a gold statue of Lord Shiva at Kalipul Bus Park in the district. This took place on the occasion of the golden jubilee of Myagdi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The erection of approximately seven feet high statue costs over Rs 350,000. It aims to attract domestic and foreign tourists, it has been said. The statue would help promote tourism of the municipality, said municipality mayor Shrestha. The event was attended by Myagdi CCI’s former president Jiban Kumar Bishwokarma, ward chair of the municipality-7 Rajendra Kumar Shrestha and ward chair of the municipality-8 Ram Krishna Baraili. ---
