HoR kicks off amidst obstruction, likely to pass Appropriation Bill

Today’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) kicked off a while ago.

The meeting is underway amidst the obstruction from the main opposition CPN (UML). Deliberations on the Appropriation Bill and replies on the queries to be raised during the discussions by Finance Minister Janardan Sharma are scheduled in the today’s session of the Lower House.

Once Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota announced the commencement of the meeting, opposition lawmakers stood from their respective seats and reached the rostrum to picket it.

Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party lawmaker Prem Suwal presented a proposal seeking the deduction of budget allocated under different headings in the bill.

Likewise, the meeting is likely to endorse the Bill today itself and Minister Sharma will float a proposal towards that end before the meeting.

If the Bill is passed by the meeting, it will be send to the National Assembly. The document shall come into force after the Upper House passes it. The NA meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday.
