Identity of the new born carried by dog revealed

npadmin April 4, 2022     Comment Closed     General

The corpse of a newborn baby pictured carried by a dog at the premises of the Surkhet provincial hospital on Saturday has been identified. The identity was known after a police investigation.

The hospital's attention was drawn after a picture of a dog carrying the body of a headless newborn baby in the hospital premises went viral. It then requested the police administration to investigate the incident.

The hospital management had come under heavy criticism in the social media for alleged serious negligence in managing the body.

According to the District Police Office, the baby was born to Pavitra BK of Dailekh Municipality-9 at the hospital. BK had given still birth to a baby at the provincial hospital on March 28. The body was handed over to the parents, who reportedly cremated in a forest within the hospital area, according to Inspector of Police Kanak Bahadur Shahi. The body is believed to have been brought by the dog from where she is buried.

Police have handed over the body of the newborn back to the couple for proper cremation.
