SURABAYA, Indonesia May 15 (NNNBernama) Indonesian police are hunting for a man, identified as Abu Bakar, who was the "teacher" of the bomber at the deadly Surabaya church suicide attacks, Xinhua news agency reported, quoting Indonesia's East Java Police Chief Mahfud Arifin.
Mahfud said Abu Bakar was the teacher of Dita Upriarto, the father in the family who bombed three churches in Surabaya on Sunday morning.
"He was the teacher of Dita. The efforts to track and pursue him were progressing at present. Let's hope he can be arrested," he told a press conference in East Java police headquarters on Tuesday.
Mahfud said Dita and the terrorist who was killed in Surabaya suburb of Sidoarjo on Sunday night, Anton Ferdiantono, were linked to each other.
Anton was killed by the police when he tried to detonate another bomb in his apartment located in Sidoarjo area of Wonocolo.
Police came to Anton's apartment shortly after a bomb blast that killed Anton's wife and daughter on Sunday night.
The police headquarters spokesperson Frans Barung Mangera said that as of now police have arrested a total of 13 terrorist suspects linked to the bombings in Surabaya and Sidoarjo.
The series of terrorist attacks in Surabaya and Sidoarjo have claimed 28 lives, both civilians and terrorists.
The bombing in Surabaya churches has marked a new phenomenon in the nation's terror attacks as the bombers bring their whole family to launch attacks.
Indonesian police said they were members of Jamaah Anshaarut Daulah (JAD), a homegrown radical group which has stated its allegiance to the Daesh group.NNNBERNAMA
