International Nepali Chef Thapa donates monetary aid to NIC

One Arjun Bahadur Thapa, who originally hails from Bandipur rural municipality-1in Tanahu and presently resides in the UK, has assisted Rs 100 thousand to the National Innovation Center (NIC). Thapa, the chairperson of International Nepalese Chefs Society, donated the amount to the Center, as he hoped the monetary assistance would help the center in manufacturing medical supplies essential in the treatment and management of COVID-19.

Thapa is a highly regarded Chef in Nepalese Diaspora in the UK and currently managing the Namaste Gurkha Kitchen in Feltham, London. He is also currently pursuing his Diploma in Culinary Arts and Management in Le Cordon Bleu London, a renowned French cooking school.

Similarly, Nepali diaspora (from Tanahu) in Australia have contributed Rs 205 thousand to the COVID Crisis Fund set up in the district by the Tanahu Chamber of Commerce and Industry . The amount was handed to Chamber President Pabindra Kumar Shrestha in the presence of Byas municipality mayor Baikuntha Neupane. The Fund aims to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the occasion, mayor Neupane urged the Chamber for proper utilization of the aid money. In response, President Shrestha promised to make the total utilization of the assistance. He called on the mayor to make arrangements for free COVID-19 vaccines for the business community and build atmosphere conducive for operating the business with the implementation of safety measures.

Prior to this, the Tanahu UK Society had contributed Rs 864 thousand to the Fund and so far around Rs two million has been deposited to the Fund.
