On Oct. 23, JICA President Shinichi Kitaoka met with H.E. Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, in Tokyo.
At the outset, President Ghani began by expressing his appreciation for JICA's cooperation with Afghanistan. He expressed his hope that the two countries could further deepen their relationship for the stability and development of Afghanistan. In response, Dr. Kitaoka said that JICA would advance cooperation with Afghanistan by utilizing the knowledge and experience gained in the process of Japan's modernization and recovery from WWII. The two exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of irrigation and infrastructure development in Afghanistan and sending governmental officers to Japan for graduate studies.
JICA continues to work with the government of Afghanistan for the peace and prosperity of the country.
