Chief Minister of Karnali State Mahendra Bahadur Shahi on Monday said the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS), Jumla has played an important role in responding to COVID-19.
"Health situation of Karnali state could be at critical situation once the Academy was not there. The Academy is a centre of source for saving lives of the people in the state," he said at a meeting of the district disaster management committee. The CM was on a visit to acquire information of natural disasters and disasters caused by humans for the past five days. Stating that health appliances would be provided to all 10 districts in the district, he said 15 ventilators would be given to the Academy. The state government has set aside Rs 1.5 billion to deal with the infection.
He also directed governmental office in Jumla under the state government to implement the budget. He thanked office bearers, doctors and employees of the Academy for devoting their time to the service of the people.
Also, Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Naresh Bhandari praised the Academy for playing a leading role for the country. The families of 51 people killed in the Kalikot landslide would get Rs 200,000 each and Rs 100,000 for the construction of new houses for each family affected, he said. Similarly, Minister for Social Development Dal Rawal lauded the Academy for its invaluable contribution to the health sector of the State.
