Choi Soon-sil, the controversial friend of President Park Geun-hye, says she will soon return home from Germany to be investigated on snowballing suspicions of her influence peddling in state affairs.
Her attorney told reporters Friday that Choi is aware of the gravity of the situation and she will show up and testify when officially summoned by the prosecution.
Attorney Lee Kyung-jae said Choi is yet to receive a subpoena since October 13th when he was appointed to defend her case.
He said that he and his client agree that providing the entire truth to investigators is the best way to defuse speculations and prevent any social confusion.
While noting that Choi is prepared to receive punishment if investigations reveal any statutory violation or crime, the veteran lawyer cautioned that breaking the law does not necessarily mean that his client is a criminal.
On top of suspicions of her involvement in the fundraising and founding of the controversial Mir and K-Sports foundations, the 60-year old woman is accused of reviewing classified presidential documents and wielding influence in state affairs.
