Local Election: Number of adult candidates higher

Adults comprise a significant number of candidates to various positions in the upcoming local level election.

According to the Election Commission, 76 thousand 162 candidates are between 35 years to 50 years of age. Among them, 39 thousand 669 are male and 27 thousand 493 are female. The number of candidates between 21 years to 35 years is 35 thousand 258, including 18 thousand 780 male and 16 thousand 478 women.

Similarly, the number of candidates between 51 years and 65 years is 37 thousand 54, including 26 thousand 515 male and 10 thousand 539 female. Candidates above 65 years age number 5,527 including 4,350 men and 1,177 women.

Election is being held on May 13 for a total 35 thousand 221 posts of 753 local levels. There are a total 145 thousand 10 candidates. Three thousand 238 candidates are contesting for the post of municipality mayor, 1,964 for the post of deputy mayor, three thousand 92 for the post of chair and 2,163 for the post of vice-chair of the rural municipality.

Similarly, there are 32 thousand 496 candidates for the ward chair position, 53 thousand 173 for ward member, 25 thousand 599 for women member and 23 thousand 285 for dalit woman member at the ward level.
