The Maldhunga-Beni road section that connects Mustang and Myagdi district with the national highway will be closed for five hours a day starting from April 16 to May 8.

The decision was taken by stakeholders in a meeting convened at the District Administration Office, Parbat today to give impetus to construction of Maldhunga-Beni road section.

The meeting chaired by Chief District Officer in Parbat Narayan Prasad Sapkota decided to close the road section from 11 am to 4 pm. The construction company Apex-Khadka Krishna JV requested the DAO for time and traffic management on the road section after the expansion of road section was affected due to continuous traffic movement.

Currently, 13-km of the road section was being upgraded and blacktopped. Related administration offices in the neighbouring districts have been appraised of the decision for facilitation and cooperation.

Ambulances and vehicles carrying development works related materials would be facilitated to ply the road section during the closure of the road section, it was shared.

The Baglung-Ratnechaur- Beni, an alternative route leading to Maldhunga, can be used during the period the Maldhunga-Beni road is closed. Manager of Omkareshwor, the sub-contractor of Apex-Khadka Krishna JV, Amrit Dahal shared that time has been sought for repairing the road closing it for vehicles.

The Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project said the 13-kilometres Maldhunga-Bani section has been closed in order to expand and upgrade it into two-lane roadway. This section of the road is a part of the Kaligandaki Corridor Highway, the shortest roadway in Nepal connecting China and India.
