Martyrs should not be a matter of dispute

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel said that the status of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation was much higher than that of political party leaders and cadres and stressed that there should be no dispute over them.

Inaugurating planting of saplings at the National Martyrs and Peace Park in Jagdol today of Gokarneshwar Municipality-4 held today on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Israel, he said that it was not fair to affiliate martyrs with any political party. The event was hosted by Salom Club Nepal, an organization of Nepalis with higher education in Israel with the support of the Israeli Embassy in Kathmandu.

Expressing commitment of the ministry to make all possible efforts to prepare the necessary infrastructure including physical infrastructure in the park, Minister Poudel urged the concerned sides to make the National Martyrs and Peace Park more systematic.

On the occasion, Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala said that all the political parties have made significant contribution to the construction of the park.

Expressing the view that it is the duty of every citizen of the world to maintain environmental cleanliness and protect the environment, Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Hanan Goder said that every citizen can be motivated to protect the earth and its environment through education.

Chair of the club Bhim Prasad Shrestha presided over the function.
