Stakeholders have urged media-persons and media houses to collect and disseminate news reports based on truth, credibility and impartiality during election.
They urged in this regard at a media orientation programme with the theme of 'election code of conduct and mass communication' organised by the Election Commission here on Saturday in Rupandehi district.
On the occasion, election commissioner Sagun Shumsher JBR said that media-persons and media outlets should also abide by the election code of conduct to help organise the poll in a fair, impartial and peaceful way.
Stating that media has been considered to be a means to monitor whether or not the election code of conduct has been implemented and disseminate information, he urged it to act accordingly.
Similarly, Yagya Prasad Bhattarai, chief of the law and political party division at the Election Commission, said that the poll code of conduct should be followed by all to help organise the poll in a fair and impartial way.
Also, journalist and former commissioner at the National Information Commission, Yashoda Timilsina said that media-persons should stay away from disseminating false information and misleading news relating to election.
