A meet and greet interaction programme with Foreign Minister of Nepal, Mr Prakash Sharan Mahat was organised by Nepali People's Coordination Committee, Australia (NPCCA) on 25 November 2016 at Harris Park, Sydney. The Hon. Consul General Mr. Chandra Yonzon along with his wife Mrs Laxmi Yonzon participated in the event as the special guests from Victoria.
The Hon. Consul General applauded NPCCA for their efforts in providing a platform to interact with the Foreign Minister about the political instability of Nepal. He also requested the Nepalese people to be united and identified first as Nepali rather than by a specific caste and religion.
He further thanked NPCCA President Mr Krishna Giri and all other NPCCA members including Santosh Sitaula, former Non-Resident Nepali Association Australia (NRNA) President Ganesh KC and community members, whose efforts made this event successful, and thus, provided an opportunity to the Nepalese community in Australia to interact with the Foreign Minister.
Mr. Yonzon also attended the Nepal Festival 2016 held at Darling Harbor Sydney on 26 November 2016. He opined that such festival helps to showcase the tradition and cultural heritage of Nepal and plays an influential role in building a positive image in Australia.
