Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairperson of the CPN (UML), KP Sharma Oli, have been holding discussion regarding ending deadlock of the Parliament and to find out political outlet.

The meeting is now taking place at the Federal Parliament Building, New Baneshwor, where other leaders of the Nepali Congress and UML are participating.

Prime Minister Deuba held meeting with the main opposition party, CPN (UML), after the Parliament meeting called for today was postponed by issuing a notice.

Prime Minister Deuba reached out to the main opposition after the ruling alliance failed to find a consensus on the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact with the US Government.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki and NC General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa are accompanying him in the meeting which is also attended by UML Vice- Chair Ishwor Pokhrel and party parliamentary deputy leader Subash Nembang on behalf of the party.

Though theoretical discussions on MCC was in agenda for the lower house session for today, the House failed to proceed towards that end.

The House was postponed by pasting a notice. The next meeting of House of Representatives has been scheduled for 1:00 pm tomorrow, February 25.

It may be noted that the proposal to ratify the agreement was tabled in parliament on February 20 by the government and the House is mandated to finalise it by coming February 28 as per the deadline set by the US Government.
