Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ramchandra Poudel has reiterated his stance for the reinstatement of the dissolved House of Representatives (HoR).
Dissolving the HoR due to intra party feud in the ruling party was in no way be logical and just, he said while handing over the awards and prizes to literary figures amidst a programme organized by Dadhiraj Subedi Award Foundation at Biratnagar today.
Leader Poudel argued that the process for stepping into the elections after averting the five-year full-term government in the mid-way would spur corruption and povery in the country.
Noting that the judiciary should listen to the voices of the people, he suggested leaders of the political parties to engage for country's development rising above from petty interests.
The Foundation has honoured and awarded four literary writers on the occasion. Poet and lyricist SP Koirala was feted with the 'Dadhiraj Subedi National Language Literature Award' for the year 2077 BS and poet Bishnu Bibhu Ghimire for the year 2076 BS.
The Dadhiraj Subedi Award Foundation has been annually presenting the award carrying a purse of Rs 51,000.
Likewise, the 'Dadhiraj Subedi National Journalism Award, 2077' was handed to senior journalist Harihar Birahi and the same award for the year 2076 BS was presented to senior journalist Mohan Bhandari. The award bags a cash prize of Rs 25,000.
The awards distribution has been managed from the interest received from a revolving fund of Rs 1.5 million set up by two sons of critic Subedi, Sharadraj and Rupakraj.
Also speaking on the same occasion, NC central member Dr Minendra Rijal highlighted the need to wage struggle against the HoR dissolution.
Likewsie, NC central member duo, Gururaj Ghimire and Dr Dila Sangraula called for adopting politics abiding by process and law.
Similarly, NCP central member Mahesh Regmi said the political parties and the people have resorted to hit the streets due to present political situation.
Biratnagar metropolitan city mayor Bhim Prasad Parajuli stressed the need to acknowledge literature and literary figures as the ornament of the country.
Also speaking at the programme were Democratic Thought Society President Dr Kedar Narsingh KC, journalist Kabir Rana and feted journalist duo, Birahi and Ghimire. ---
