Minister for Finance Janardan Sharma reaffirmed the commitment that the incumbent government, formed to defend nationality, constitution and democracy, would not ink any agreement against national independence and integrity.
Responding to the queries raised by lawmakers in the parliament during the discussion in principle on the grant assistance agreement between the government of Nepal and the US-aid agency Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) on Sunday, Minister Sharma said that nationality and independence were important for all Nepalis.
Sharma reiterated, “The incumbent government is committed to country and people. It will not enter into any agreements hampering country’s independence and integrity.” Stating that Nepal could not be a part of any country’s military strategy, the Minister assured that the government was working towards implementing the MCC as the development project.
According to him, the incumbent government wanted to take forward Nepal as the peace zone and efforts were underway to address national issues forging national consensus.
He viewed the government’s attention was drawn towards the parliamentarians’ concerns on the MCC, and the voices raised by people in the street.
The Minister was confident that the descriptive notes would help address the concerns regarding the MCC.
