The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has completed four projects relating to reform of the Tribhuvan International Airport amid COVID-19 pandemic.

Expansion of 300 meter runway, and construction of parking lot, modern departure hall and arrival halls were completed amidst the pandemic.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai inaugurated these four projects on Tuesday. He said continuous monitoring of project, proper direction and managerial facilitation resulted in timely completion of the project. "The completion of the projects is the result of confidence and high morale," he said, adding that the expansion and modernization of TIA would be continued in future too.

According to him, the TIA will now return to normal with the wake of government's decision to resume international flight after five days.

The Minister pointed out the need of active cooperation from all sides to ensure regular air service by maintaining adequate safety measures. The new infrastructures will help expand air service. Now, TIA will not suffer the problem of plane holding with the new infrastructures, he added.

The departure hall at International Terminal is now capacious for 1,500 persons. Similarly, the expanded parking lot will have space to park 24 planes.
